The real Sir Charles
The staff at 11 couldn't be prouder to welcome into the family the firstborn son of Chris and first-ever froastee Mary. Charles Christopher entered our world via Centennial Hospital at 21:36 yesterday. As he had things that needed seeing to with urgency, he decided to make an entrance earlier than expected, and so he weighed in at 6 lbs. 11 oz. Looks like a future champion weight-lifter in the photos if you ask me.

Mom and Dad are tired but happy, and we wish them the best.

Round Mound goes downtown
News: Sir Charles is making headlines again, this time not for teasing the public with talk of a run for the governorship of Alabama, but for getting a DUI with a hooker in the car.

Elevenews: Barkley offered to tattoo the arresting officer's name onto his peepee if he'd let him off the DUI hook.

On the verge
Word to the wise for you randy youngsters: steer clear if the object of your desire has made a virginity pledge. It's not that he/she won't jump into the sack with you -- it's that he/she is a liar and is more likely to have an STD.

Home is where the Hulk is
After 1.5 weeks in Chicago and most of the previous 4 on the road for work, we're heading to the Dawghouse today. And happy to be doing so. After extreme cold, snow, rain, fog & wind over the past few days, it appears we have a relatively smooth day for sailing. We're looking forward to becoming re-acquainted with the dog, cat & Middle Tennessee.

Travel talk will inevitably turn again toward baby names. Front-running suggestions from family and friends the past few days (in my mind, anyway) are Declan and Hulk, with honorable mention also going to Seamus Amos and Quinn Finn.

Oh, did I mention.... IT'S A BOY!

Chip Saltsman, thanks for keeping Tennessee in the 1950s!
Our president-elect is one magic Negro.

Happy Holidays!
If 11 goes several days with no new update, that typically means either (1) I'm at a customer site and can find nothing nice to say about the customer; (2) family/personal things have been a distraction; or (3) I've just been busier than a one-armed paper hanger.

As it happens, all of the above have been the case over the past week. But things do seem to be settling somewhat again and so here we go.

The staff at 11 wish you and yours the happiest of holiday seasons.

And especial mention to the Wife's family, who lost her very close Uncle Bob to cancer last Wednesday. I only had the pleasure of knowing Bob since 2002, but it was enough to recognize him as the type that is the life of the room. He is dearly missed.

You looked so good through the sneeze guard

Cheers to JeffW for keeping a watch on Craigslist for gems like this. Only in the Nashville 'Missed Connections' section of that fine service will you find entries like this:

Shoney's Hot Bar Buffet - m4m (Nashville)

Saw you load'in up your plate at the Shoney's buffet hot bar. Dickies blue jeans, Christmas sweatshirt getting extra mashed potatoes. Lookin good man. I was across from you checking you out through the sneeze guard. I asked the waitress for more mac and cheese, and then ordered a strawberry pie.

/Mmmmmmmmm...... ......mac and cheese...........

Holy Limbaugh!
News: President Bush is worst president ever.

Elevenews: Bush admits he doesn't really stand behind the one thing that gives him any redeeming value whatsoever to any segment of the population.

Highlights:
-- Christians and Muslims pray to the same God.
-- The Bible isn't literally true.
-- Evolution? No problem.

Nice timing, now that he is a couple of months from the end of his disastrous presidency. What if he'd said these things in '99?

In his defense, I think there are a couple of moments in these interviews where he shows more unfiltered and independent thoughtfulness than about anything I've ever seen out of him.

Part 2:
