You turn me upside down

Thanks to Brother Don for this one. Our friends over at freakingnews held a recent Photoshop contest where the entries were upside down celebrity faces. Check out many clever and creepy efforts here.

On a happier note...
A brief update for those of you who look here for updates on Keats.

The Boy had his two-month doctor visit on Tuesday. He weighed in at 10 lbs. and 1.2 oz, so he definitely has had an appetite, and the mamajuice seems to suit him just fine.

He's a real cuddler: loves being held and all that. Maybe that's how all babies are though. Again, we are new at this.

He carried himself pretty well on his first road-trip, up to Chicago. But it must be said that it is slow-going, traveling with a baby. An 08:00 start time became 11:00. And an 8-hour journey became an 11-hour one, both going and coming.

For Father's Day, we spent a lovely evening at my own father's. My sister and 80% of her kids were along as well. Side note: Dad & I threw some horseshoes, and he tossed three consecutive ringers. I reckon that deserves to be published on the interwebs.

One more thing: if you are waiting for a thank-you from us, don't give up hope. We have a list and are just well behind on that. (And pretty much everything else.)

Beat It

If you're like me, you couldn't believe it when you read David P's Facebook status update earlier this afternoon. He doubtless broke the news of the passing of Michael Jackson to millions.

Say what you will about Jacko, but the fact is that back when I had no more cassettes than you could count on one hand, one of them was Thriller. I played Billie Jean so much the tape eventually broke and I had to fasten it back together. I practiced moonwalking when nobody was around, just like you did. Yeah, I'm looking at you, Grissom.

To put it nicely, the man was a freak. But he could sing and dance like a mutha. Props for that. Plus, he got on well with my man Paul McCartney, so he gets points back for that. That 'Say Say Say' video is an all-time classic if you ask me.

And I recognize that millions love his stuff. How else do you explain 100+ million units sold of a *single album*? And 50(!) dates scheduled at the O2 that sold out in minutes? So I have to say I was pretty shocked when I saw the news. Not 9/11 gutted, but shocked nonetheless.

RIP, MJ. You're not a tragically sad man any longer.

/Boy, did Farrah Fawcett pick a bad day to die. God rest her soul too.

Happy Father's Day!
No need to get me a gift as I have already bought one for myself. (See previous entry.) But here are a few last-minute ideas that came in from ALove, if your pappy is a true man's man. Kids, look away as there is a naughty word or two below.

New axe to grind
It would seem that new dads are the odd man out when it comes to attention paid to the happy threesome. So I decided to buy myself a new guitar the other day. Belated birthday / early Father's Day. She's a Taylor 214ce, and I must say I'm quite enthralled.

In Taylor terms, it's low in the pecking order, but at least it's not the Cimarron. It's a significant step up from the Wife's Takamine G Series I've been hacking at, and a giant one up from my old Washburn. Plus, it's my first acoustic with proper amplification and a cutaway. It plays better than a couple of $2,500+ guitars that I tried out for the heck of it.

I've forgotten to take any decent photos of it so far, but here's one where you can at least get the gist. If you look closely, you might spot a baby in this photo:

High-dollar tunes
News: Minnesota woman fined for 24 illegal song downloads.
Elevenews: $1.9 million!

I bet she's really regretting it if any of those tracks were Steely Dan. Or Jack Johnson.

Get outta your sweatpants
This in from Scott. Sure it's fake news, but we all need a dose of that occasionally.

Picture perfect

We had a photographer around on the 24th for The Boy, and we think a few of the shots turned out alright. Have a look at the updated photo gallery (the album Keats--24 May 2009) if you like.
