Driving before they can walk
Thursday, February 15, 2007, 01:08 AM

I do apologise, there has been a bit of a gap between posts this time round. Originally this was going to be month 13 - but that makes no sense now. But it's not really month 14 either, and I don't want to miss one. Oh dear no, that would be bad.
While the rest of the house came down with the bad bugs Madeleine proved herself to be indestructible - she was fine the whole time.
So we have some new pics this, ahem, "month" - oh I have to find a new naming system - with special guest appearance all the way from the UK of Braeden, my fav is the three of them in the car clearly terrified of the Toby driving skills.
The walking continues apace (at a time) so to speak. Toby can waddle across a room (by which I mean slowly walk not grow a mullet, play for OM and sing Diamond Lights) and Madeleine can too when she can be bothered, as is her way. I reckon they will be there in the next few weeks.
The Toby has teeth - or white things in his mouth that will become teeth - at last. He doesn't look best impressed by them mind.
They have also started going to playgroup. Where they mainly run around and ignore what everyone is doing, but hey it's a start. Generally they are great fun at the moment - Mads plays peek-a-boo by covering her eyes then getting very excited when you pretend she has disappeared until she moves her hands and there she is! She also does some great Vader impressions and can cackle like a pirate. Which is mightily impressive to me. Tobes on the other hand is obsessed with saying BOO, laughs at ANY bodily function or noise and points at monkeys on TV or in books and calls them Dada. He also loves Brian Blessed impressions - especially a big booming “Gordon’s ALIVE??!!” Ah, that's my boy...

We are 1! We are 1!

Well they are anyway, the other two in the pic are slightly older. But we still get to play with the toys OK??

Oh how soon they grow up...

So the twins are finally one year old. Hurrah *waves hands around in a Kermit stylee*

They had cake, well they HAD a cake which we mainly ate...it was lovely.
Lots and lots of pressies, obviously, in fact they did very very well. A big thank you to all of you! Some pressies are still arriving. The twins think it is normal to have a new toy every day for more than week.

So what have we learnt in this first year? Well mainly that their personalities were developed and obvious to see within the first few days of their birth. They are treated the same, eat the same, do the same things, but we couldn't have two more different babies if we tried. Note to self, toddlers, not babies, toddlers...

And the development continues, still no walking but it's probably not too far off. Toby likes - or rather can - stand on his own for, like, ages now (how technical and detailed was that!) and Mads can too if she can be bothered. She is more of a sitting girl anyway... She still has all the teeth too. They have slightly more hair, honest. And they can dance. Like REALLY DANCE…

There are two albums of photos uploading this month. Christmas-Birthday and YearOne. Enjoy.

We like boxes
Thursday, January 4, 2007, 03:15 AM

Ah, these final heady days, when we were still babies, not yet toddlers. Look at how young and innocent we look...
So this month we have a selection of pics. We have a nice trip out to Alassio in Italy - which is beautiful by the way - especially the underground car park where we broke down...
We have a few of the twins' friends round for a play...
We have Christmas decorations. Before babies, the little glass baubles have lasted being brought back from the Czech Republic, lugged around London, brought over to France, not a problem. Mads broke one within 2 hours of it going on the tree...
And of course this month meant birthdays and Christmas, which to the babies meant boxes, lots and lots of boxes. Sometimes they even played with the thing IN the boxes. But mainly they like boxes...
Birthday pics to follow…
